I was so distracted by Kate Middleton’s recycled jacket during her latest outing with Prince William that I nearly missed her subtle hair change.

This week, the Prince and Princess of Wales traveled to Pontypridd to celebrate the lead-up to St. David’s Day (Wales’ national holiday) on March 1. I noticed that Princess Catherine opted against her signature hairstyle and sported a much straighter ’do.

Instead of her usual beachy waves, the royal let her hair fall straight down her back. Her ends had a slight curl that looked somewhat natural. Princess Catherine was wearing a brown sweater, a patterned skirt and suede boots. She completed the look with a recycled jacket that she previously wore in 2007 when she and Prince William first started dating.

The royal couple spent the day touring the town, visiting local shops and even learning how to make a traditional Welsh cake. At The Welsh Cake Shop, the duo donned matching aprons and baked alongside the shop’s owner.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Princess Catherine has switched up her hair. Last year, the royal rocked a millennial-approved deep side part when she attended The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. Back in January, during her visit to The Royal Marsden, she kept the top half of her hair straight and rocked uniform curls on the bottom for a full, bouncy look.
