Great British Baking Show’ Star Prue Leith Slams Meghan Markle’s New Netflix Show

Dame Prue Leith, esteemed judge of “The Great British Bake Off,” has openly expressed her disinterest in Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.” During a promotional appearance for the second series of her own show, “Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen,” Leith candidly stated that she is “not a Meghan Markle fan” and has no intention of watching the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle series.
Leith elaborated on her perspective during an interview on ITV’s “Good Morning Britain,” where she commented on the focus of Markle’s show:
“I don’t know [why], all that sort of touchy-feely mindfulness, endless worrying about what creams you put on your hands. I just think there’s more to life than how you look and how your friends think of you.”
She acknowledged that her remarks might alienate some fans but stood by her viewpoint.
“With Love, Meghan,” which debuted on Netflix last week, has faced mixed reviews from critics. The series delves into various aspects of lifestyle, including cooking and entertaining guests, aligning with Markle’s interests in mindfulness and wellness.
In contrast, Leith’s “Cotswold Kitchen” focuses on traditional cooking and culinary arts, reflecting her extensive experience and passion for the culinary world. The new series of “Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen” is set to begin on March 15 on ITV1.
The differing content and focus of both shows highlight the varied approaches to lifestyle programming, catering to diverse audience preferences.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been approached for comment regarding Leith’s statements but have yet to respond.
