Taylor Swift and the Chiefs/Ravens Playoff Game: 7 Things to Know

Jason and Kylie Kelce will be in Baltimore at the AFC Championships to cheer Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce on, but will his billionaire girlfriend be in the box with them?

By now, we don’t have to tell you that singer Taylor Swift never comments on her plans to attend (or not) National Football League games involving the Kansas City Chiefs—also known as the team for which her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays. With the Chiefs playing the Baltimore Ravens Sunday for both the AFC Championship and a slot in the Super Bowl, the white-hot interest in Swift’s relationship with Kelce (especially as it relates to her appearances at the team’s final matchups) is at a fever pitch. I sure do wish I could tell you if Swift will be at the game (and believe me, I always ask her representative)! Instead, I’m going to tell you everything else I know as relates to the topic. There’s a lot to learn!

So, how do I watch today’s Chiefs-Ravens game?
Maybe you want to see if Swift is at the game, or maybe you want to watch some football! All are welcome. The game kicks off at 3 p.m. ET, and will be played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. If you still have broadcast TV (kids, ask your parents), you can watch it on CBS; the rest of us will need the Paramount+ streaming service to tune in.

Can I just keep an eye on X (formerly Twitter) for Taylor updates?
This would have been an excellent strategy in weeks past — in fact, that’s what I do when I write about her appearances at games. But X started blocking searches for Swift Saturday, Variety reports, after trolls flooded Elon Musk’s social media platform with sexually explicit AI-generated fake images of Swift, a concerted action from a Telegram group dedicated to abusive images of women, 404 Media reports.

Via statement, X head of business operations Joe Benarroch says that the platform’s block on Swift searches “is a temporary action and done with an abundance of caution as we prioritize safety on this issue,” but did not provide a timeline on when the ban might be lifted.

You said Taylor never tells if she’s coming to the game. What about Travis, did he spill the beans?
The Chiefs did their typical pregame press conference Friday, during which reporters asked Kelce about his relationship with Swift. He didn’t say one way or the other if she’d be at the game, but he did say that the couple ignores media coverage about their pairing. “The only thing we’ve talked about is that as long as we’re happy, we can’t listen to anything that’s outside noise,” he said of stories like the one you’re reading right now, I suppose.

“There are certain things that give you challenges in life that you just have to be appreciative that you’re being tested, because not everybody gets those opportunities,” he said. “I brought this upon myself, and I do enjoy having fun with it all, and the biggest thing is making sure my focus is right here in this building.”

Then, what about Jason Kelce? That dude seems like someone who’d let the news slip.
Travis Kelce’s brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, is arguably the best non-football reason to tune into the game. Did you see him at last week’s Bills game? Did you watch Kelce, the documentary about his 2022 season?

Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelce, will indeed be at today’s game, People confirmed. But though Kylie has been doing a little press, other than New Heights, the podcast Jason hosts with his brother, the Eagle has kept mum.

Does Taylor have time for this? Doesn’t her Eras Tour resume next week?
Excellent point! Swift’s global concert series paused for the holiday season, but picks up in Tokyo on Thursday, February 7. Rehearsals for the show have resumed, tour dancer Natalie Lecznar said in social media postings reported on by Us.

Swift skipped a Chiefs game in November as she geared up for the South America leg of her tour, so it’s not unreasonable to wonder if her rehearsal schedule will impede her attendance today.

Oh, I hope so. All they do is show her when they should be showing football!
Folks like this verklempt Daily Beast commentator argue that “she’s on television whenever her boyfriend touches the football” and that “instead of showing us a replay of a stunning catch or a big hit, the camera cuts to Swift.” But an analysis from the New York Times suggests that we really only see Swift for somewhere between 12-76 seconds per game. By comparison, Jo Koy’s Golden Globes joke about cutaways to Swift dragged on for 16 interminable seconds.

I’m a dad, Brad, or Chad who still thinks that’s too much. Is she going to ruin my Super Bowl, too?
Sir, she just might. First, the Chiefs will have to win today, which they’re favored to do. If I enrage the more superstitious members of team DBoC and assume a Chiefs win, they’ll face off against either the San Francisco 49ers or Detroit Lions (those teams play at 6:30 ET Sunday) in the Super Bowl. That game will be played on Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada (a town near Las Vegas).

Meanwhile, Swift will end a four-day stint at the Tokyo Dome on February 10. Tokyo is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas, so if her show wraps up at 11 p.m. Saturday night, it’s still only 6 a.m. Saturday in Las Vegas. Hopping on her jet to make the 13-or-so-hour flight to Nevada seems like a manageable chore, especially since she doesn’t return to the road until Friday, February 16, when she’ll need to be in Melbourne, Australia. And by then, who knows, maybe that guy on the Chiefs will head down under with her.
