Travis and Jason Kelce issued a joint statement ahead of this week’s “New Heights” podcast episode, delivering an address regarding last week’s Union Station shooting at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade. The Kelce brothers shared how brokenhearted they were left; communities in KC and the NFL look for ways to pick up the pieces and heal.

The shooting Wednesday afternoon left one person deceased, more than 20 Super Bowl rally attendees injured and sent a dozen children to the hospital for attention.

This week’s “New Heights” episode had been pre-taped; thus, the Brothers wanted to address the sensitivity around the situation.

Travis Kelce shared Monday: “We have a pre-recorded episode for you guys coming up on Wednesday, but after the tragic events of the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, it didn’t feel right without you guys hearing from us first.”

The Kelces encouraged their listeners to continue supporting the victims of the shooting. Leading by example, Travis and girlfriend Taylor Swift have so far donated more than $200,000 to victims of the shooting. Kansas City radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan died at the scene, leaving behind two children and her husband.

Jason Kelce added, “We just wanted to say our hearts go out to all of the victims, their families, Chiefs Kingdom, and really all of Kansas City that was really there on a day to try and celebrate the community.

“It’s unfortunate, and deeply tragic the events that occurred. So we want to thank the local law enforcement that sprang into action, the first responders on scene, and anybody that’s been willing to help those affected by this tragedy.”

The haunting scene on Valentine’s Day shook the NFL community. Several NFL teams and players reached out to provide support amid devastating times. Three men connected with the Union Station shooting were arrested. No motives were provided.
