Sofia Vergara explains why she did not want to have children with ex-husband Joe Manganiello
After formalizing her divorce with Joe Manganiello, actress Sofia Vergara has continued to reveal the reasons why the marriage could not continue. The divorce ended on good terms, with both parties focused on rebuilding their lives after seven years of marriage.
After the news of the separation broke, it has emerged that Manganiello, 47, had a strong disagreement with the Colombian, which led him to ask her to separate in July. The reason? The star of ‘Magic Mike’ wanted to be a father, but Vergara was never willing, given she already has a 32-year-old son, Manolo, and she explained that in a conversation with People.
“There are things in life that may seem like good ideas, but they are not. I was already a mother. I know what it means to be a good mother or to try to be the best mother I can be, and that takes a lot of time. A lot of sacrifices, it takes a lot of energy,” she explained.
She added: “Today, thanks to science, women can have babies older. Before, nature, for some reason, told your body at 50 years old that you’re in menopause, that it’s time for you to end that. There’s a reason why nature is doing that.”
“But that’s for me, and I totally respect that someone wants to be a mother after 50. I didn’t think that because of my career, the way I live my life, the way my marriage was, it was fair to bring a child into this world and I’m not going to be able to give 100 percent.”
