Why Taylor Swift Skipped the 2024 Met Gala
The rumors are true: the chairman of the Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift, skipped the 2024 Met Gala to focus on Eras Tour prep.
A few days before the highly coveted fashion event, TMZ reported that Taylor and her beau, Travis Kelce, declined their attendance despite receiving “individual invitations.” While Tay heads to Paris in 3 days for the European leg of her tour, it’s unclear why the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is skipping the Met Gala. According to the outlet, it’s probably because Taylor won’t be there.
Naturally, fans were holding out for another red carpet appearance from Tay to point out sartorial clues… and perhaps, a hard launch with Trav.
Just FYI, Taylor’s known for using red carpet moments to drop major hints. In February, she showed up to the 2024 Grammys wearing a white gown with black elbow-length gloves, and fans later realized she was dressed as a literal Albatross–a clear reference to her track on The Tortured Poets Department.
