Sofia Vergara sued by the family of drug trafficker Griselda Blanco over Netflix miniseries
Sofia Vergara and Netflix are being sued by the family of Griselda Blanco, the Colombian drug lord the actress will portray in the upcoming miniseries that will feature on the streaming service.
The big premiere of ‘Griselda’ is scheduled for this Friday, January 25. However, the family is looking to block the series from airing as they say they didn’t authorize the use of their images.
Michael Corleone Blanco, son of Griselda, gave an interview to the Colombian media ‘La W’ and made the family’s opinion clear. He explained that he is grateful that an actress like Vergara plays his mother, but that it is also a “slap in the face” that she did not consult with the family.
“I wonder, if she really wanted to play the full role and do it well, why didn’t she approach the family or why didn’t they contact me, the youngest son, the one who shared day and night with her, the one who knew how she talked, walked. My mom and I were very close. So at the same time I feel a little offended, just like my mother if she were alive,” he said.
