Sofía Vergara Is So Ready to Become a ‘Fun’ Grandma — and Already Knows What She Wants to Be Called (Exclusive)

Sofía Vergara may have decided to not have more children but she can’t wait to be a grandma someday.

The Griselda star, 51, who is mom to her only child, Manolo, 32, from her high school sweetheart ex-husband, even knows what she wants to be called.

“Abuela,” she tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “I think I’ll be a fun grandmother.”
“On the weekends, he just drops his dog at my house,” Vergara explains. “And I used to drop him at my mom’s house during the weekend so that I could at least go out every once in a while.”

Vergara, who had her son at 19, now appreciates how close they are now. “It is great that I had him young because now I’m going to be 52 and he’s 32,” she says. “I wish I was older sometimes because I would’ve been more mature, more prepared to be a mother, but that was what I got and what happened. But it is fun because I kind of grew up together with my son.”
