Gordon Ramsay details exactly what caused scary bike accident
Now that he’s up and running again, Gordon Ramsay finally detailed what really caused his harrowing cycling accident that left him badly bruised in June.
The “Hell’s Kitchen” host revealed he was cruising on his bike when he hit a “crater-like pothole,” according to his interview with Men’s Health published Thursday.
The jolt caused his bike to spin 180 degrees, launching him off of his two-wheeler. When he attempted to put the chain back on his bike and finish his ride, he learned his helmet had fully cracked leaving him with blurry vision and bloodied.
“I honestly thought I was going to pass out,” Ramsay recalled of the incident.
The celebrity chef called his assistant, Justin Mandel, who was able to direct an ambulance to his location on a Connecticut road. After being transported to the hospital, CT scans revealed he didn’t break any bones during the ordeal.
Ramsay was forced to undergo daily lymphatic drainage treatments and physiotherapy as his wounds healed.
“I couldn’t even put my f—king socks and pants on. Justin, he used to dress me in the morning. I felt like a f—king 95-year-old man. Asking a 30-year-old kid to put my f—king underpants on was embarrassing,” he said.
Ramsay first shared he’d been in a cycling accident on Father’s Day, telling his Instagram followers he was “lucky to be here” still.
“I’m in pain and it’s been a brutal week. But, I’m getting through it,” he said at the time.
Along with two before and after photos of the accident, he showed off his gigantic purple bruise that climbed up his side from his waist to his ribs as he cautioned everyone to wear a helmet.
