Flavor Flav Sends a Strong Message About Taylor Swift’s Music
Plus, we finally know what his favorite song is.
Flavor Flav has some kind words for Taylor Swift, his new favorite singer.
The rapper, 64, had a strong message for anyone doubting the sincerity of his newfound Swiftie status in a new interview with HOT 97’s Ebro In The Morning, where a chat about the Golden Globes immediately shifted into a moment where her showered the “Cruel Summer” songstress, 34, with love.
“Everybody knows, yes, Flavor Flav supports Taylor Swift,” he assured viewers, going so far as to call himself the “King Swiftie,” giving two thumbs up as the show’s hosts, Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, each offered an “ooooooooh” in response.
He went on to analyze her songwriting style, likening her music to that of Mary J. Blige as he pointed out how “she’s writing a lot about her experiences that she goes through in life…[just like] Mary writes about her experiences that she goes through in life.” When either woman “gets out there on that stage, and she sings those songs, mostly every single woman in that audience relates…”
He happens to have a favorite track, though, dubbing her number one song in his eyes as “Bad Blood.” While there’s space in his heart for the remix featuring Kendrick Lamar, it’s the original solo version that he’s particularly fond of.
“I mean, that’s like everybody’s relationships, or everybody’s families, or everybody’s friendships, it’s like, you know, ‘We used to be good friends, now you did something to me, now we got bad blood, look what you’ve done!’ Now we got problems, we can’t even solve’em! Man, come on—that’s deep,” he emphasized.
Flavor Flav has been incredibly vocal about his love for the record-breaking Eras Tour artist ever since he and his girlfriend brought her kids to see Swift’s stop in Detroit over the summer.
While standing in the VIP tent, Swifties gave him so many friendship bracelets that he had them stacked up both arms. “Her fan base embraced me, and I embraced them back,” he recalled, sharing that he went home that night and “really…started listening to Taylor,” coming to realize, “Yo, this girl is dope!”
He then enlisted her fans to help him make friendship bracelets to trade at future shows, and even repped her merch during a recent red carpet appearance.
