Angel Reese Moved To Tears After WNBA All-Star News
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was named to the WNBA’s 2024 All-Star team on Tuesday. Following the announcement, Reese shared an emotional reaction during an interview. The first-year star was in tears and made sure to share a heartfelt note on her basketball journey.
“We won today, but they just told me I’m an All-Star, and I mean. I’m just so happy. I know the work I put in. Coming into this league, so many people doubted me and didn’t think my game would translate. … I trusted the process, and I believed. I’m thankful that I dropped to seven and was able to come to Chicago,” Reese said via Angel And Kamilla on X.
Reese and the Sky are fresh off an 85-77 victory over the Atlanta Dream. The rookie out of LSU posted her 11th straight double-double on Tuesday with 12 points and 19 rebounds.
She holds the longest streak in WNBA history for the most consecutive double-doubles, previously surpassing Candace Parker, who had nine straight with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2015.
Following the Sky’s victory over the Dream, they advanced to 7-11 on the season, ranked as the No. 9 team in the WNBA standings.
Reese is headed to the All-Star game, which will take place on July 20 in Phoenix, Arizona. She joins Caitlin Clark as the only two rookies in the All-Star lineup.
