Blake Lively Was ‘Vulnerable And Upset’ Over Controversies Around It Ends With Us…..See More
Blake Lively starrer It Ends With Us made significant achievements at the box office, raking in major numbers even in its fifth weekend now. Despite being a considerable success, the film had its own share of controversies, including reports of an alleged rift between the co-stars and backlash towards its approach to domestic abuse. The negative reactions even caught the leading actress off guard, as she was “surprised” over the drama surrounding the release.
According to a People report, Blake Lively felt “vulnerable and upset” at the point when her film started receiving a lot of backlash online. “During the promotion of the movie, not one day went by when she was not in the news in an unfavorable light. She’s just not used to this kind of drama. The situation felt out of control to her,” the report added, quoting a close source.
Even though she couldn’t help but face the situation, Lively will be looking forward to continuing to push forward projects that she’s excited about. It is pertinent to note that Blake Lively was one of the producers behind the novel adaptation of It Ends With Us. With collections of over $200 million worldwide, the romantic drama has become the highest-grossing movie of her career.
In the film, she plays Lily Bloom, a woman whose relationship turns abusive, prompting her to make the decision to leave. At the same time, she happens to meet a childhood friend, who shows Lily that she might have a second chance.
Blake Lively’s Alleged Rift With Director
Right around the release, the project was clouded with controversies as rumours started making rounds about Lively’s alleged clash with director/co-star Justin Baldoni on the sets. While the two refrained from posing together during the film’s premiere, they also didn’t do any press meetings together.
While both Lively and Baldoni are yet to comment on the reports, actor Brandon Sklenar, who plays a significant role in the film, shared a statement on Instagram. “What may or may not have happened behind the scenes does not and hopefully should not detract from what our intentions were in making this film. It’s been disheartening to see the amount of negativity being projected online,” he wrote.
On the other hand, Baldoni was also seen often speaking highly about Lively and her contributions to the film.
