Chiefs Star Travis Kelce Opens Up About Retirement Plans
There is no denying that the Kansas City Chiefs would not be three-time Super Bowl champions without the efforts of tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce has been one of the most important aspects of the offensive attack for the team, which led to the organization giving him a record-breaking new extension.
Kelce’s new contract locks him up for at least the next two seasons, meaning the star tight end could call it quits after his contract is up. There have been many rumors and speculations about him walking away from the game, but Kelce has now revealed what his retirement plans truly are.
Reporter PJ Green of FOX4 Kansas City posted a response from Kelce on retirement via his Twitter/X page. Kelce states: “Said he cant put a timeframe on retirement rn…I know there’s opportunities outside of football for me. I’m still a little kid when I come in this building…I love coming to work every single day and doing this. Im gonna do it until the wheels fall off..
Kelce appears set on staying in the NFL for as long as his body allows him to. That is, at least “until the wheels fall off” — meaning he could stay in the league for at least a few more seasons. Kelce is approaching 35 years of age, and players often don’t play well into their late 30s, especially those who, like Kelce, are responsible for taking hits from defenders when catching passes and also being used in blocking packages for the run game.
Kelce also indicates that there are “opportunities outside of football” which is definitely true. He has one of the top podcasts in the world with his brother Jason, which is called “New Heights.” The podcast is likely to continue being among the top-rated in the world, especially with Travis and Taylor Swift continuing to date
The younger Kelce has also been tapped to host a new reworked show that mimics “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” The new trivia show will air on Amazon Prime Video and is likely to be quite popular.
