Draymond Green Reminds Stephen Curry of Warriors’ Harsh Reality as Feelings on Front Office’s Decision Emerge

Draymond Green isn’t just excited about Jimmy Butler joining the Warriors—he’s already calling another championship. Before Sunday’s All-Star Game, he didn’t hesitate to make a bold claim, leaving the TNT crew stunned. Adam Lefkoe, caught off guard, asked him to say it again. Instead of repeating himself, Green took it up a notch. “I’m sorry, I said I think we’re going to win a championship, but I lied,” Green said. “We are going to win the championship.”
Well, it may have been because they were in front of the crowd at the Chase Center, he said that because he’s made quite the u-turn on this statement. Speaking with Baron Davis, Green acknowledged the missed opportunities that have held Golden State back this season. Maybe after Curry backed him he gave it a second thought.I definitely think we’re still, um,hey, if just look at the games, we just completely blown this year, just those games alone, fourth place, third place,” Green said. Green didn’t hold back on how frustrating those losses have been.
Despite those setbacks, Green made it clear the Warriors aren’t out of the mix on The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis. “So, just those alone, we right there. And what does right there mean? Does that mean we’re right there to win a championship? No, that’s that’s not what that means. That means we’re right there with the rest of everyone else that’s trying to figure it out.”
“Yeah, and we have a chance to figure it out, and we going to do that, and we going to go for that. So, that’s what it is. That’s where it’s at. That’s what it’s going to be for now.” Well, we don’t know if they have a lot of time to figure it out. Because there have been rumors of the Warriors rebuild, which would mean Draymond and Stephen Curry being shipped.
Green acknowledged that there’s logic behind the speculation but doesn’t believe gutting the roster is the right move. “Like, if you say you want to be a good team, right, right? I’m not sure the answer is like trade away an All-Star starter [Stephen Curry].”
Beyond Curry, Green also questioned whether it makes sense to move on from core players who built Golden State’s dynasty.
“I’m also not sure the answer is trade away just at the trade deadline. Guys who’ve built a dynasty. The organization never had a dynasty. Like, I don’t think that’s just the method of things.”
As far as Green is concerned, making major trades mid-season seems unrealistic. “I just don’t think it’s highly likely. No, I don’t think it’s too many moving pieces. Like, I just don’t foresee that.”. The 4x All-Star seems to be placing a lot of trust in the front office. But we saw Luka Doncic get traded so who can say for sure.
Maybe because Green already has another job lined up with the Warriors.
Did the Golden State Warriors really offer Draymond Green their head coaching job for after his playing days? According to Draymond, the answer is yes. When Candace Parker joked about him coaching, he quickly responded, “I’ve already been offered the Golden State Warriors head coaching job when I’m done. You think I’ma s–k?”
While the Warriors haven’t confirmed or denied it, the idea has certainly turned heads.
Kevin Durant, Draymond’s former teammate, has no doubts about his future as a coach. Durant thinks Draymond would thrive as a head coach. “I think Draymond would be an incredible head coach. He’d be a better head coach than a TV analyst,” Durant said. “He loves being on the floor, loves teaching, loves competing.”
