CELEBRITY
EXCLUSIVE: After 40 years of loyal service at Arrowhead Stadium, a longtime janitor made a discovery that stunned Chiefs Kingdom — a letter in his locker signed by Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Inside was a handwritten note that read, “You’ve cleaned up after our wins; now let us clean up your future.” Alongside it? A mysterious set of house keys no one saw coming
After four decades of quiet dedication to keeping Arrowhead Stadium spotless, one longtime janitor’s final day turned into something straight out of a fairy tale or perhaps, a song.
According to sources inside the stadium, 67-year-old Earl “Buddy” Thompson had just finished his final post-game cleanup last Sunday when he discovered an envelope tucked inside his locker. Written on the front: “To Buddy with love and gratitude.”
Inside, he found a letter signed by Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, the NFL power couple who have captured hearts across the nation. The handwritten note read:
> “You’ve cleaned up after our wins; now let us clean up your future.”
But that wasn’t all. Beneath the note sat a small velvet pouch and inside it, a shiny set of house keys.
“I thought it was a joke,” Thompson said, holding back tears. “Then I saw the address.”
The address, confirmed by stadium officials, leads to a newly renovated ranch-style home just 20 minutes outside Kansas City a property reportedly purchased by Kelce and Swift earlier this month.
A Gift Fit for a Chief
Kelce, known for his generosity with stadium staff, is said to have worked with Swift to arrange the surprise as a retirement gift for Thompson, who’s been with the team since the early 1980s.
“He’s part of the Chiefs family,” Kelce reportedly told a staff member. “This place wouldn’t shine without him.”
Swift, who’s spent plenty of time at Arrowhead cheering Kelce on, allegedly helped personalize the gesture stocking the fridge, adding décor, and leaving a handwritten lyric on the kitchen wall:
> “There’s a golden light where loyalty lives.”
Chiefs Kingdom Reacts
Fans flooded social media with praise for the couple after news of the gesture broke.
“Travis and Taylor didn’t just score touchdowns — they scored hearts,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Another wrote, “This is the kind of love story Kansas City deserves.”
As for Thompson, he says he’s still in disbelief. “I’ve mopped those locker room floors for 40 years,” he said. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think the Chiefs or Taylor Swift would do something like this for me.”
He paused, smiling. “Guess I’m finally going home to a house built on kindness.”
