It has been well-documented that USA gymnast Simone Biles isn’t a fan of the Yurchenko double pike, which is the toughest gymnastics move on vault.
One of Biles’ more popular social media posts came on Aug. 21 when she made her disdain for the move known, stating, “getting up and not having to think about doing a Yurchenko double pike is a blessing”
However, the 27-year-old is synonymous with the skill after she became the first person to attempt the move, called the Biles II, in competition in 2021, and she executed it well enough to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
So when Biles displayed two photos of herself on Instagram sitting on top of a vaulting horse with the caption “rest in peace Yurchenko double pike,” many found the humor in her post, including gymnastics legend Nastia Liukin.
The five-time Olympic medalist left one of the more amusing comments on Biles’ post, stating, “I’m dead. You win (obvi).”
The Yurchenko double pike helped Biles become the second woman ever to win two Olympic gold medals in the vault, joining Vera Caslavska.

In addition to two Olympic gold medals on vault, Biles also owns two gold, three silver and one bronze in vault at the World Championships.
