Heavy metal band’s lead singer shuts down Taylor Swift haters during concert: ‘She is for real’
Swifties, it seems, can be found just about anywhere these days.
For example, David Draiman, lead singer of the heavy metal band Disturbed, took a moment to sing Swift’s praises during a Disturbed concert on Jan. 19 in Peoria, Ill.
The incident began when Draiman brought two dads and their two 12-year-old daughters up on the stage.
“So I take it that you came to the Disturbed concert, as opposed to the Taylor Swift concert, means that your parents are raising you on rock and roll,” he said to the two girls, as seen in a video shared on TikTok. “Hey, don’t forget: Taylor Swift still kicks [expletive],” he then said to the cheering crowd.
When some concertgoers started booing that remark, Draiman quickly let them know he wasn’t having any of that.
“Don’t you boo her. You know what? I will stand up and applaud any pop artist that gets up on stage and sings live and plays a guitar live in front of a whole group of [expletive] thousands of girls and guys, young fans,” he said.
“Don’t talk [expletive] about Taylor Swift. She is for real,” he said. “And she’s making sure that an entire generation of new music fans understand what it means to actually play music live.”
Another TikTok video of Draiman’s brief speech had the witty caption: “When you go to a @disturbe concert and they’re hyping up @Taylor Swift.”
“As a Disturbed fan and a Swiftie, love this,” one person commented on the first video.
“CALLING ALL SWIFTIES!!! DISTURBED × TAYLOR SWIFT!!! LETS GO!! My millennial heart is happy,” another fan wrote.
“Taylor Swift and Disturbed is the collab I never knew I needed,” another fan wrote.
Sadly, there is no word from the Taylor Swift camp yet on any possible collaboration.
