‘I don’t go out…’ Before surprising world by dating NFL star Travis Kelce, Austin Reaves had to publicly clear out spicy Taylor Swift rumors
Back in June 2023, rumors had floated that Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Austin Reaves and pop star Taylor Swift were in a relationship. While Lakers star quickly refuted the reports, it was a Los Angeles Clippers staff member who initially made up the story, according to Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports.
Reaves refuted the rumors when they first flooded social media, claiming:
I was playing cards with my brother, my best friend and my girlfriend, actually. I said something [about it] and she looked at me and was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve seen that, I was like, ‘Yeah, one night when you were asleep I just snuck away and went to a bar.’ She obviously laughed about it and said, ‘If it were at a golf course, I would’ve been a little more worried.’

Speaking to “Full Send Podcast” he once again denied the rumor saying he doesn’t even frequent bars.
That s*** was funny. Everybody that knows me knows I don’t go out, so everybody was like, ‘The funniest thing about all of this is Austin being at a bar.’
Reaves is currently in a relationship as well, while Taylor Swift is known to be dating Travis Kelce, the American football tight end for NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.
Austin Reaves full of praise for teammate D’Angelo Russell
Despite the Lakers losing to the Utah Jazz 132-125, star Austin Reaves praised teammate D’Angelo Russell. This came amidst rumors of a trade away from the Lakers, for the 27-year-old. Russell had a stellar performance with 39 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Reaves lauded Russell as a “super talented player” and claimed it was an honor sharing the court with him. Despite the accolades, it’s noteworthy, as pointed out by Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, that Russell is the most likely to depart from the Lakers.
The veteran players the Lakers can send out likely won’t drive much interest beyond the way their salaries are required to make a trade work. Russell’s looming player option for $18.7 million next season is big enough that it’s expected to give teams pause.
Russell is currently in his second stint with the Lakers, having been drafted second overall in the 2015 NBA draft. This marks a significant chapter in his basketball journey, considering he is getting a second chance to succeed at the historic franchise.
