“It’s been the most incredible experience I could ever imagine,” he said, standing in front of the stables at Windsor Castle, with two black horses gently nodding behind him.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, and we’re both absolutely thrilled,” he added, speaking about his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. He described the duchess as “amazing,” the birth as “amazing,” and the public’s love and support as “amazing.” As he prepared to leave, so overwhelmed with joy and sleep deprivation, he seemed to thank the horses.

“We’ve been waiting for him,” said Carol Lengolo, 38, who moved to Britain from South Africa and is raising a son and daughter in southeast London. When the news came in at 2:39 p.m., they erupted in excitement, screaming and rushing to the television.

“We feel like Meghan is one of our own, so we’re here to support her,” she shared. “We can’t wait to see what he looks like.”
