/NFL Insider Shares Big Update On Travis Kelce’s Plans

The Kansas City Chiefs have given Travis Kelce a few weeks to think about whether or not he will return for another season. After the Super Bowl, Kelce noted that he would take some time before coming to a decision, noting that he felt he owed that level of consideration to his teammates.

Kelce has until March 14 to make his decision, as his $11.5 million roster bonus would be due from the Chiefs the next day.

One NFL insider believes Kelce is close to a decision, and it’s one that will likely make Chiefs fans happy.

“There’s definitely a sense that Travis is going to try to play more,” Russini added.

“I haven’t heard anyone saying ‘Yeah, he’s really struggling with what he wants to do.’ It’s definitely leaning more towards that. That can of course change… But for this Chiefs operation looking to move forward here, I think they feel pretty good that Travis has a little more left in him.”

Kelce will turn 36 next season, and tight ends can take more punishment over the course of a season than other skill position players. If the perennial Pro Bowler does return, there’s a chance that he could be used in different packages in an effort to keep him healthy throughout another grueling season.

It seems that the Chiefs will attempt to respond to this year’s Super Bowl loss by gearing up for another run. It’s difficult to keep a championship team together, especially as players start to age out of their prime.

Kelce had a relatively unproductive regular season by his own lofty standards, but he showed flashes of the player he’s been in the past at certain points in 2024.

We’ll see if he can return to his former status as the league’s best tight end if he chooses to come back in 2025.
