The Chiefs’ tight end expressed frustration during the Super Bowl LVIII game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday when he was not included in a Chiefs’ red zone play, leading to his outburst in the 25-22 victory. The cameras on the field panned toward him when Kelce reportedly yelled at Reid. It has become a hot topic in the NFL world since then, with many even demanding strict actions on Kelce. However, calm and composed Reid broke his silence on the heated episode, forgiving him in the latest interview.

Andy Reid is okay with Travis Kelce’s behavior?

In the latest post-Super Bowl press conference of the Chiefs, Andy Reid was asked, “Would you not recommend other players trying what they did… he [Travis Kelce] probably caught you off guard, and whether or not there’ll be any reprimand for him for doing something like that?” Reid smiled and responded, “No, listen, he and I have talked, and that’s not a big deal. So, I wouldn’t anticipate the players doing that.“

During the Chiefs’ opening drive on February 11, Kelce caught a short pass on the left, gaining just one yard. However, he didn’t make another catch until the third quarter, at 12:26. This limited involvement seemed to fire him up, leading Kelce to run up to Reid on the sideline and scream in his face.

Hours later, Reid was asked about the incident in a postgame interview, wherein he laughed off, saying, “[Kelce] caught me off balance. I got this fake hip, and he caught me off balance. The guy makes me feel young. He’s been with us longer than anybody. He’s a seasoned veteran.”

Meanwhile, Reid has forgiven Kelce for labeling the incident less important. Many are still baffled by his behavior, with Rich Eisen calling him “hot-headed.” Nevertheless, Kelce has already apologized to Reid.

After the Chiefs’ running back Isiah Pacheco lost possession of the ball close to the 49ers’ 10-yard line, Travis Kelce, who was not playing then, saw that play. Once the turnover occurred, Kelce approached Andy Reid, expressing his displeasure with an intense conversation. During this interaction, he reportedly grabbed Reid’s arm and bumped him, causing the coach to lose balance momentarily.

After the game, when the tight end was asked about the incident, Kelce joked, “I was just telling him how much I love him.” He further explained that he asked Reid to “put it on” his shoulders after seeing the imbalance in the game. The 34-year-old added, “I live for moments like that, and I love Big Red for giving me those opportunities. It’s a beautiful thing, man, when everything comes together.“

Although Reid and Kelce have things sorted between them, many critics still hope for some punishment for Kelce shoving his elderly head coach.
