Conspiracy theorists speculate that the Super Bowl win was scripted to boost President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, leveraging the popular relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. The theory suggests that their influence over the public could sway political sentiments.
Responding to controversy
Even Biden himself joined the conversation, posting about the Chiefs’ victory on social media. Despite the speculation, Mahomes’ comeback victory and the game’s record-breaking TV ratings stand as testaments to its excitement and appeal.
“There were some wild conspiracy theories that were flying around this season that the Taylor Swift effect was all scripted to allow Taylor to use the Super Bowl for politics,” CNN’s Abby Phillip told Mahomes.
The theory suggesting the game was scripted to influence politics appears to have inadvertently drawn more attention to the event.
“It’s been wild to see,” Mahomes told CNN.
“I try focusing on football as much as possible, but there’s always some conspiracy theories out there. I just try to enjoy football, my family, and I stay off social media as much as possible.”
