Prince William — and his beard — step out for first time since Kate Middleton’s cancer-free reveal
An unshaven Prince William stepped out for his first public appearance since Kate Middleton revealed she had completed her cancer treatment.
The Prince of Wales, 42, greeted fans while rocking his new beard with a big smile on his face outside of the Swiss Valley Primary School in Llanelli, Wales, on Tuesday.
“It’s good news, but there is still a long way to go,” he told one person of his wife’s prognosis.
Several royal watchers sent along their well-wishes during the visit, expressing to William how happy they were to hear that the Princess of Wales’ health was on the up and up.
One fan even handed the prince a card with an envelope addressed to “Our Beautiful Princess of Wales.”
William looked dapper in a blue suit, a button-down shirt and a maroon tie during the lively meet-and-greet.
Just hours before, Middleton, also 42, released a video message on social media announcing that she had completed chemotherapy.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she said in a statement Monday.
“Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
The princess shared that her battle with cancer has been “complex, scary and unpredictable” and that she will do her best to “stay cancer free.”
“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she added.
