Prince William tries his hand at refereeing following a big day with Kate Middleton

On March 11, Prince William demonstrated his commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in sports by participating in a referee training course at Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall, West Midlands. This initiative is part of the Football Association’s (FA) Reflective and Representative campaign, which aims to recruit 1,000 referees from Black, Asian, and mixed heritage backgrounds.

During his visit, Prince William engaged with schoolchildren, discussed diversity in sports with FA and Sporting Khalsa representatives, and practiced refereeing skills, even officiating a mini soccer game. His active involvement underscores his dedication to fostering inclusivity within the sport.

This engagement followed a significant Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey, attended by the royal family. The event marked a notable return for King Charles and Princess Kate, who had previously been absent due to health-related reasons in 2024.

Royal expert Jennie Bond observed that Kate Middleton has made a strong return to royal duties after her cancer battle last year. Attending the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, the site of her wedding nearly 14 years ago, marked her resurgence in the public eye. Bond noted that Kate looks fantastic and enjoys her engagements, signaling she has regained her confidence.
