Queen Camilla deals with heartbreak in Australia: ‘Won’t be easy’

Queen Camilla is set for a heartbreak ahead in her first tour since King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, as she comes to face a new challenge.

The monarch and his wife arrived in Down Under on Friday, and were welcomed to a big light show and greeted by dignitaries on the tarmac.

Camilla, who seemingly earned the favour of the British press, may have a constant reminder of the past during the trip as she struggles to make a mark of her own, suggested royal and historian Dr Tessa Dunlop.

Ahead of the tour, the headlines about Charles’ health and expectations of the trip were constantly in the headlines, casting a shadow over Camilla’s presence.

“With all eyes on the King, there has been less talk of Camilla, who will be touching down as Australia’s new queen,” Dunlop told The Mirror.

She added that Camilla’s trip “won’t be easy” as she has “giant shoes to fill and not just those of the late Queen” but also of Princess Diana.

The expert shared that the Aussies “fell in love with a fresh royal fairy story” of Charles and Diana, which also started the “Diana-mania.”

“The public’s love was unadulterated – so much so that Prince Charles, who had been trying to woo Australia since 1966, took umbrage,” Dunlop explained.

“Sadly, Diana is long gone, but while here in Britain we have grown fond of Queen Camilla, who has been rehabilitated in our press, in Australia memories of the ‘other woman’ and Diana’s rough treatment at the hands of the royal family are more pronounced.”

It appears that past demons may haunt the Queen Consort who has spent so long in rebuilding her reputation in the public. However, it remains to be seen if Australia gives in to her charms.
