The 36-year-old intends to retire after 13 NFL seasons and a Super Bowl title

Jason Kelce intends to retire after 13 NFL seasons following Philadelphia’s wild-card round exit but one thing the All-Pro center won’t miss is yelling ‘f***’ before each of the Eagles’ famous ‘tush push’ play.

That’s what the 36-year-old, one-time Super Bowl champion (2018) told Fox Sports’ Laura Okhim after the Birds’ 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.

‘Here’s to a man who also screams – and lives – ”I LOVE my life” just as passionately,’ she added to her tweet attributed to Kelce, who has been in the league for over a decade.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts confirmed his teammate’s use of profanity on the play.

The ‘Tush Push’, or ‘Brotherly Shove’ as it grew to be called in Philly, involves having a team’s QB line up directly behind the center, but instead of the QB solely driving himself forward to gain yards and move the sticks, as in a QB sneak, several players lined up behind the QB to give him a push from behind to propel him forward.

Eagles center Jason Kelce won’t be missing his team’s ‘tush push’ play at all should he retire
The Eagles failed with their ‘tush push’ attempt against the Buccaneers in what could’ve been Kelce’s last on Monday night

It’s a tough play, particularly for the center, who almost finds himself in the thick of the action and at the bottom of the pile once the tackling and shoving is all said and done.

The play became wildly popular because of the Eagles’ success with it this season, although they did have a rare failed conversion during the playoff loss to the Bucs’.

After Hurts used a 55-yard completion to DeVonta Smith to set up a 5-yard scoring pass to Dallas Goedert, the Eagles lined up to go for 2 points from the 1-yard line, but Tampa Bay stopped Hurts for no gain.

So while Philly’s last ‘tush push’ attempt of the season may have been denied, Kelce will be glad to turn his back on that part of Sunday football.

Kelce has been a stalwart of the Eagles’ offensive line since he was a sixth-round pick in the 2011 draft out of Cincinnati. He turned into an Iron Man after he missed most of the 2012 season with a partially torn MCL and torn ACL.

On top of his six first-team All-Pro and seven Pro-Bowl selections, he has started all 193 games in which he has played during the regular season and all 12 in the playoffs.

Outside of football, Kelce’s a podcast co-host of ‘New Heights’ with his brother, Chiefs tight-end Travis Kelce; he was the subject of the ‘Kelce’ documentary; and was even named one of People magazine’s Sexiest Men for 2023, alongside Timothee Chalamet and Jamie Foxx.

Kelce is also a beloved Philly personality that has done everything from belting out holiday hits on a pair of Christmas albums and playing celebrity bartender on the beach. Kelce performed the national anthem at a 76ers game and partied with the Phanatic while he pounded a beer to a roaring ovation at a Phillies postseason game.

‘I love him. He’s one of the best to ever play the game,’ Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson said after Monday night’s loss in Tampa Bay. ‘The things he can do on the football field athletically — I don’t think we’ll see another one like him for a long time.’

‘He’s special, and I love him,’ Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said of Kelce. ‘He’s one of the most special guys I’ve been around.’
