In a recent interview, Stephen A. Smith shared his perspective on the seemingly unlikely but, in his view, perfect match between pop sensation Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce.
Contrary to Stern’s suggestion that Kelce should marry Swift to maintain his popularity, Smith argued that both individuals are highly accomplished in their respective domains and are, in fact, “a catch” on their own.

Defending Kelce’s credentials, the ESPN commentator highlighted the football star’s impressive achievements, including being a two-time Super Bowl champion and a contender for a third title.
Smith rejected the notion that Swift is the sole contributor to the relationship’s appeal. He emphasized Kelce’s universal recognition as one of the greatest tight ends in football history and his future potential in the media beyond his football career.
“He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, he’s on the verge of potentially being a three-time Super Bowl champion,” Smith told The Howard Stern Show.
“He’s universally recognized as one of the greatest tight ends in the history of football.”
“He is a good-looking dude, got style, got flair. He’s got skills. He’s got a future once he retires from football.
“He’s the total package.”
While acknowledging Kelce’s virtues, Smith didn’t hesitate to praise Swift’s qualities as well. Describing her as a “good-looking woman” and an “incredible artist,” he shared his positive experience attending one of her concerts, expressing astonishment at the dedication of Swift’s fanbase, known as Swifties, who knew every lyric and stood throughout the almost four-hour show.
Smith, aged 56, brushed aside criticisms of the couple’s romance and defended Swift against those who attributed the Chiefs’ performance issues to her presence at games.
He lauded Swift’s commitment to supporting Kelce, urging fans to “show some respect” to the pop star and emphasizing that Kelce performed better with her in attendance.
The ESPN co-host concluded by characterizing Swift as “that girl,” endorsing the relationship between the pop icon and the football star.
Swift and Kelce, who publicly revealed their romance in September, have faced scrutiny, especially regarding the impact of Swift’s presence on Kelce’s performance.
However, Smith firmly believes that both individuals contribute positively to the relationship and that they make a formidable couple.
As the Chiefs gear up for a crucial game against the Baltimore Ravens, Swift is expected to continue cheering for Kelce from the stands, maintaining her supportive presence in the Missouri-based team’s journey, despite spending time in Manhattan recently.
