A 16-year-old girl is dead and her 10-year-old sister is hospitalised in a critical condition after a horror crash in Australia.

The group were driving to Melbourne from Queensland on Thursday evening when their SUV was involved in a head-on collision with a truck near Dubbo in regional New South Wales, about halfway through the journey.
The older sister was in the front passenger seat and died at the scene, while her sister was airlifted to Sydney’s Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. 9News reports she was placed in an induced coma with serious brain injuries.
