The Chiefs Might Soon Replace Travis Kelce As An Analyst Predicts The Team Will Select Tight End Colston Loveland With The No. 31 Picks

The Kansas City Chiefs, who lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, are now focusing on the offseason’s biggest questions, including whether tight end Travis Kelce will return for 2025. Kelce, who has had one of his worst seasons since 2014, will be his thirteenth year in the league. If he returns, Kansas City will lose one of its biggest offensive threats of the last decade. Jordan Plocher predicts the Chiefs will select Colston Loveland with the No. 31 picks.

The Kansas City Chiefs must prioritize the long-term future of their team, especially after their loss in Super Bowl LIX. The team must consider who could replace the irreplaceable Travis Kelce, who has been a key player since the 2013 NFL Draft. Kelce broke team records as a tight end and became a crucial partner for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs must focus on finding a replacement for Kelce to ensure their success in the upcoming season.

Kelce, a 35-year-old tight end, has not announced his future in the NFL. The Chiefs have given him a deadline of mid-March, and he plans to take about a month before finalizing his decision. “It just wasn’t our day. Couldn’t find a lick of momentum,” Kelce said in a “New Heights” episode that was released on Wednesday.

He added, “I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field, trying to do something more than what I asked to do during plays. I wasn’t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool and collected. I put a lot of that on myself as, you know, the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and actually seen a situation just like this in the Super Bowl, talking about the Tampa Bay Super Bowl.”

Jordan Plocher, an analyst for Pro Football Focus, predicts the Chiefs will choose a tight end in the first round of the 2025 Draft, even suggesting Michigan Wolverines star Colston Loveland as a candidate. Plocher acknowledges this is against odds, as most analysts believe the Chiefs will strengthen their offensive line.

However, getting Kelce’s replacement now “Would do wonders for maintaining Kansas City’s offensive success in the coming years.” The analyst further explained, “Loveland averaged a very impressive 2.67 yards per route in 2024 to go along with his 90.6 PFF receiving grade.” ESPN reports that the Wolverines tight end is the No. 2 prospect in his position and No. 27 in the Class of 2025

Loveland, a highly sought-after tight end, has had a solid three-year stint with the Michigan Wolverines, accumulating 117 receptions, 1,466 yards, and 11 touchdowns. ESPN ranks him as the No. 2 tight end and No. 27 player available. While replacing Kelce, who has been named to 12 Pro Bowls and four First-Team All-Pros, is challenging, Loveland could be the best option in this year’s draft. If Kelce returns, Loveland could play alongside a future Pro Football Hall of Fame member.
