Travis Kelce to Taylor Swift: ‘Thank you for joining the team’
Travis Kelce is happy to join Taylor Swift’s Kansas City Chiefs on the way to the Super Bowl.
If it wasn’t obvious after their kiss on the field after the AFC title game. On the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast, the Chiefs tight end and his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, joked about how the 12-time Grammy winner has arrived at the right time.
Swift began dating Travis Kelce when he invited her to a game earlier this season, and she has been a regular attendee of Chiefs games ever since.
“Hats off to Swift, the newest member of the Chiefs Kingdom, who has officially made it to the Super Bowl in her rookie year,” Jason Kelce said in a podcast released Wednesday. Travis laughed: “Good luck to Tay.” , Thank you for joining the team.”
It remains to be seen if Swift makes it to the Super Bowl against the 49ers on February 11 in Las Vegas.
The star is set to resume his Erasure tour with four concerts in Tokyo next week. His last date is Saturday night. Had he taken a private plane between the two cities, and taking into account the time difference, Swift could have covered the distance in about 12 hours, giving him enough time to reach Allegiant Stadium before kickoff.

Speaking of flights, American Airlines and United Airlines jumped into the limelight of Taylor and Travis’ romance this week. Flight 1989 – the year Swift was born and refers to the title of her fifth studio album – will fly twice from Kansas City to Las Vegas next week, while Flight 87, Kelce’s jersey number, will fly next week after the Super Bowl. The day will depart from Kansas City.
“For our customers who are big sports fans, look what you made us do,” American said in a statement to The Associated Press, referencing Swift’s song Look What You Made Me Do.
Kelce and Swift have tried to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, although it is becoming increasingly difficult. This has become evident during game broadcasts, with television stations receiving criticism from NFL fans for showing too much of the “Shake It Off” singer’s concerts in the suites, where he often watches games with Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. She sees. towards him.
Still, the Swift effect appears to be real when it comes to expanding the NFL’s audience.
CBS, which broadcast the Chiefs’ 17–10 victory over Baltimore on Sunday, broke the AFC title game record with 55.47 million afternoon viewers; The previous record was 54.85 million for the Jets-Steelers game in 2011. This represents a 17% increase from last year’s conference championship game between San Francisco and Philadelphia.
In fact, the Chiefs–Ravens game was the most watched non-Super Bowl show on CBS since the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Of course, it’s not all thanks to Swift. The Chiefs, who will play in their fourth Super Bowl in five years, are one of the most visible franchises in the league. Mahomes and Kelce have played charity golf games, Kelce has also hosted “Saturday Night Live” and the two have become nearly ubiquitous in television commercials selling everything from insurance to soup.
Head coach Andy Reid said last week that he appreciates the way Kelce has focused on his work amid everything else.
“I haven’t really seen it impacting me in any way,” Reed said. “I haven’t seen anything about their relationship, with their off-the-field stuff, with the commercials, with ‘Saturday Night Live,’ all that stuff. It just goes away. I guess it all depends on who it is. That’s just a part. He makes all those things look very easy. “I don’t think it impairs her personality and has to change at all.”
Kelce has definitely been playing his best during the playoffs this season. He had seven receptions for 71 yards in the win over Miami in the wild-card round, five receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns in the divisional win against Buffalo.
Last weekend he dismantled the Ravens’ impenetrable defense with 11 catches on 11 attempts for 116 yards and a score.
Also, the four-time All-Pro passed Jerry Rice for the postseason receptions record with 156. He tied Rice with his eighth playoff game of at least 100 receiving yards. And his 21 starts in the postseason are still a franchise record.
That’s a lot for the Swifts and the Chiefs to celebrate.
“She’s been great,” Reed said on SiriusXM this week. “I knew him from before Philadelphia. His father played at Delaware and was a big football fan and a nice person. So I met him there, and him. And that was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew him before that. She told him, ‘I know your coach,’ and he said, ‘Oh my God, let’s go!’
“She’s a good girl,” Reed said. “And I’m happy for Trav. And in that sense there has been no distraction. And Trav handled it well. He has handled it well. And we kept moving forward. So it’s not a problem.”
