Trump claims ‘either Joe or Hunter’ Biden left cocaine in White House and vows to open investigation

In July 2023, a small plastic bag containing less than a gram of cocaine was discovered in a storage cubby near the West Wing entrance of the White House, prompting an evacuation and a subsequent investigation by the Secret Service. Despite a ten-day probe, which included reviewing visitor logs and surveillance footage, no suspect was identified due to the lack of physical evidence, such as fingerprints or DNA, leading to the closure of the investigation.

In recent developments, President Donald Trump has publicly alleged that either former President Joe Biden or his son, Hunter Biden, was responsible for the cocaine found in the White House. In an interview, Trump expressed his belief that the matter warranted further investigation, despite the previous inquiry yielding no conclusive results.

The initial incident occurred while President Biden and his family were at Camp David, Maryland, and not present at the White House. The cocaine was found in a heavily trafficked area accessible to various individuals, including tourists, visitors, staffers, facilities operations workers, and military personnel. The lack of surveillance footage directly covering the storage cubbies and the high volume of foot traffic contributed to the challenges faced during the investigation.

Hunter Biden has a well-documented history of substance abuse, which he has openly discussed in his memoir, “Beautiful Things,” detailing his struggles with addiction and his journey to sobriety since 2019.

The renewed allegations by President Trump have sparked discussions about the need for a more thorough investigation into the 2023 incident. However, given the previous investigation’s closure due to a lack of evidence, it remains uncertain whether new inquiries would yield different results.

As of now, no new evidence has emerged linking any individual to the cocaine found in the White House, and the incident remains officially unresolved.
