Was Pat Mahomes Sr.-John Rocker fight staged? Why Chiefs QB’s father had court supervisions tightened after Super Bowl

Pat Mahomes Sr. has garnered plenty of attention as of late, and much of that has been for the wrong reasons: The 11-year MLB veteran and father of Chiefs standout Patrick Mahomes has drawn rebuke over the years for a number of offenses, from driving while intoxicated to purportedly roasting Bills fans.

Mahomes Sr.’s latest feat saw him nearly come to blows with another polarizing former big-league pitcher — John Rocker

Mahomes Sr.’s spat with Rocker could have very well been staged. After all, Barstool Sports recirculated the clip of their interaction, leading some to believe its existence was a mere ploy designed to draw interest in its Rough N’ Rowdy series, an event where celebrities box against one another.

Rocker and Mahomes Sr. are reportedly scheduled to fight each other at one of the company’s upcoming spectacles, lending credence to the whole psyop claim.

Nevertheless, the implications of the video — as well as a host of other Super Bowl week incidents — seem to have made a very tangible impact on Mahomes Sr.’s livelihood.

A Texas District Attorney requested that Mahomes Sr. be made to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet.

“Due to the defendant’s extensive travel outside of Smith County for sports events, it’s requested the defendant have an additional portable alcohol monitoring device when he’s not using his vehicle,” the request read.

In addition to his dust-up with Rocker, Mahomes Sr. also reportedly missed a court-ordered drug test two days after Super Bowl 59. The former big league pitcher, who was given five-year probation after pleading guilty to a felony driving while intoxicated charge in Aug. 2024, was due to submit a urine sample on Feb. 11. Instead, he submitted the test on Feb. 12. It came back negative.

Mahomes Sr. has had his fair share of run-ins with the law, facing various arrests for driving while intoxicated over the past decade or so.
