Halle Bailey and DDG are the latest celeb couple to call it quits. The Little Mermaid star and rapper were together for two years and welcomed their son, Halo, at the end of 2023.
DDG confirmed the split via Instagram Stories with a lengthy statement, writing, “After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. The decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best part forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we shared.”
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other,” he continued in part, before clarifying that he and Halle will “focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents,” as they “cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
He then asked their followers for their “understanding and support” as they “navigate this transition.” Check out his full statement below:
The pair was first romantically linked in 2022, and the Chloe x Halle singer admitted she was “for sure” in love with DDG, who she discovered during his era as a YouTube content creator. “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them,” she told Essence in September 2022. “He was one of them.”
“I completely forgot about him. But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song,” she continued. “Coincidentally he messaged me — and the rest is history.”
The former couple then welcomed their son, Halo, in December 2023, which Halle revealed with a sweet Instagram post. “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo ✨the world is desperate to know you ♥️,” she wrote at the time.
Halle has yet to publicly comment on their relationship status.
