“You’re God Sent” Travis Kelce Applauded for Helping Kansas City Resident in Need
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end helped a local woman in a big way.
Between his animated interactions on and off the football field—and his public relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift—Travis Kelce has built a reputation for being a passionate but good-natured leader. And recently, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is being applauded for helping a local resident in need.
Thanks to Kelce, longtime Kansas City, Mo., resident Gloria White, 87, could afford extensive repairs to her home of more than 56 years. The NFL player’s foundation, 87 & Running, donated enough money to Rebuilding Together Kansas City for White get her house back in working order, KSHB 41 reported.
Most pressingly, sewage had leaked into her basement.
“When we looked at her home, we realized there were lots of other things she needed—a new roof, she needed gutters, she needed safety latches on the doors, she needed work in the bathroom and kitchen,” Scott Hickox, the executive director for Rebuilding Together Kansas City, told the news outlet.
Kelce learned of White’s plight through former Chiefs teammate, Otis Taylor, whose spouse is one of her relatives, KSHB reported.
“For Travis to care enough and his foundation to care enough about his community and what’s happening in Kansas City, this meant the world he could partner with us,” Hickox said.
Folks on X (formerly Twitter) have sung Kelce’s praises for helping White during her time of need. One X user wrote, “This is why our community loves Travis!”
Another person commented, “Thx @tkelce! We love you even more now! And thank you to Miss Gloria for passing on your knowledge and wisdom. Sending you love and best wishes!! ”
Someone else wrote, “Thank you@tkelce. Thats awesome.”
