Taylor Swift Is In Tokyo The Day Before The Super Bowl… Will She Make It Back In Time?

Thanks to international time zones, it looks likely that she will attend the 2024 Super Bowl to support her partner, Travis Kelce.

Over the course of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelche’s dating history, the popstar hasn’t missed a single one of Travis’ playoff games during her break from the Eras Tour. Not one. During a press conference on Friday 2, February, Kelche even commented on how his girlfriend’s presence at his games has been a great motivator for him.

On Sunday, Travis is set to play in the Super Bowl LVIII with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. However, as Taylor’s international leg of the tour kicked off in Japan yesterday (Thursday, February 8), and is scheduled to play in a show in Tokyo the day before her boyfriend’s big game, arriving in time for the big game, from a completely different continent and time zone may be a difficult feat. However, it’s widely believed the Grammy Award winner will travel across the world to make it back to the US in time to support her other half (and earn her ‘Best Girlfriend Of The Year’ award, in our opinion).

Firstly, Tokyo is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas, US which gives Taylor an automatic leg up when it comes to making the Super Bowl on Sunday. Her Eras show starts at 6pm on Saturday in Japan, while the Super Bowl begins at 3.30pm on the Sunday in the US. Typically, the average length of Taylor’s shows are 3 hours and 15 minutes, which would mean she’d finish on stage around 12.15am (Tokyo time).

If Taylor were to board a plane an hour after at 1.15am (Tokyo time), it would still only be 8.15am on Saturday morning in Las Vegas (over 30 hours to kickoff), which would leave her plenty of time for the 13-hour flight back to the States.

We’re not the only ones who are convinced it’s a possible journey – the official Japanese Embassy even shared a post on X to confirm it’s doable:

Easing the concerns of Swifties and new ‘Trevis Kelche’ fans everywhere, the embassy noted: ‘Despite the 12-hour flight and 17-hour time difference, the Embassy can confidently Speak Now to say that if she departs Tokyo in the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl begins.’

Where Would Taylor Swift Sit If She Attends The Super Bowl?
For the vast majority of games, Taylor has always sat in a VIP box next to Donna Kelche, Travis’ mother. However, during a recent interview on the Today show, Donna stated that she would not be sitting in a box, given how pricey they are – the cheapest start at $250,000 (£198,000) and run right up to $1.8 million (£1.4 million). But considering how Taylor typically tends to sit with her boyfriend’s mum, it’s possible she may buy a private box for her friends and Travis’ family.

Another possibility might see Taylor sitting in Brittany Mahomes’ box (the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes), as the pair are quite friendly, according to a source from Page Six.

What Have Taylor And Travis Said About Her Attending The Super Bowl?
Ever the understanding boyfriend, Travis hasn’t definitively stated whether Taylor will be attending the Super Bowl. During a press conference via Extra, he said of his leading leady: ‘She’s focused on entertaining the crowd… I know she’s out in Japan, Tokyo… so she’s just working on entertaining them, making sure she’s ready for her performances and everything.’

As for Taylor herself, she hasn’t commented on whether she’ll make the game or not, but we think it’s highly likely. After all, it’s the love story of the year, right?
